Finding courage to jump from success: Ruby Jane at TEDxYouth@Austin
Listening to "her inner voice of potential", Ruby Jane has fueled her career as a performing artist -- a singer, songwriter, guitar, and fiddle player. She shares her journey through a childhood where music and performance took precedence over a traditional education. By following the voice inside telling her what she could do, and not those telling her what she couldn't, she's achieved what she set out to do.
She was the youngest fiddler ever invited on the Grand Ole Opry, and has performed with many big name artists, including Willie Nelson. Born in Texas, raised in Mississippi, and now in Austin, Ruby Jane has fronted her own band and toured for years. She's recently performed at Lollapalooza, ACL, and SXSW. Her debut, self-released studio album, "Celebrity (Empire of Emptiness)," was released in June 2012.
