Thoughtful Giving: Martha Muna

Martha Muna is the former director of KaeMe, a nonprofit that serves abandoned and orphaned children in Ghana. Ms. Muna holds a degree in Human Biology from Stanford University. In her talk "Thoughtful Giving," Muna speaks about the creation of numerous orphanages in Ghana and how this charitable work has, in fact, had negative, long-term consequences on Ghanaian communities. She discusses how good intentions do not always lead to good results, and addresses ways in which harm to communities receiving charity and social welfare assistance can be prevented through thoughtful giving.
